Évreux Cathedral

Évreux Cathedral is a Gothic structure built between the 13th and 16th centuries, incorporating Renaissance elements and exceptional stained glass.

Geography

The cathedral stands at the center of the old town, bordered by the episcopal gardens and palace.

History

Construction began in the 13th century, with successive campaigns adding chapels and towers. The Renaissance north tower is a distinctive feature, as are the 13th–16th century stained glass windows. The building was damaged in WWII and restored in the 1950s.

Present Day

The cathedral remains active and is open to visitors year-round.
