A narrow brick tower built in 1907 to drop a daily time ball for ships in the harbour to calibrate their chronometers.

Geography

Located in Signal Hill Garden, slightly inland from the Star Ferry terminal and shopping zones.

History

Originally 3-storey; expanded in 1927. Ceased time ball operations in 1933. Now preserved as a monument with restricted access.

Present Day

Stands within a small public park. Few visitors, but visible from nearby rooftops and walkways.
