Formed in 1932, the oblast became the core of Ukraine’s metallurgical and military-industrial base, with major factories in Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih.

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast remains under Ukrainian control. It has been repeatedly struck by missiles and drones, given its role as a logistics hub near the warfront.
